Guidelines helping you to find your marriage partner

In Islam there are also guidelines which can be followed to help you find your marriage partner, which are as follows:

• Makin du`a, seeking help and guidance from Allah (swt) in the matter of finding a marriage partner. You can as often as you feel necessary pray Salaah Istikhara. This in Islam is a special prayer for guidance in order to help you to find a suitable decision. “put your trust in Allah, for Allah loves those who put their trust in him.â€� (Qur`an s3,v.159)

• Instinct also plays a role when looking for your potential partner. Consult your heart and listen to what your inner voice that Allah (swt) has given you. It will provide you guidance.

• Try to find out the reason for your potential marriage partner wanting to marry you. Marry someone who is interested in you as an individual.

• Within the boundaries of Islam try to get to know your potential partner before deciding on marriage. Try to find out there nature, find out what makes them tick, their temperament and think about what it would be like to live with them.

• Talk to several people who know your potential partner, not just one or ask someone trustworthy to do this for you. It is best not to just ask friends or family of your potential partner as they may conceal facts. This will allow you to get a better picture of your potential partner’s character.
